WE RECEIVED A SAFETY NOTICE OF THE POSSIBILITY OF DRIVER SIDE AIR BAG DEPLOYMENT DUE TO DEFECTIVE INFLATOR IN JULY OF 2000. I CONTACTED BUICK IN DECEMBER 2000 WONDERING WHY WE HAD NOT HEARD ANYTHING ABOUT RECALL AND WAS TOLD 3 TO 6 MONTHS MORE BEFORE REPAIR WOULD BE AVAILABLE. THEY DID REPLACE THE DEFECTIVE PART WITH A NEW OLD PART THAT HAD NOT SUFFERED THE DEGRADATION OF TIME. THIS TEMPORARY REPLACEMENT WAS/IS TO HOLD ME OVER UNTIL THE PROPER PART BECOMES AVAILABLE. MY COMPLAINT IS THE ORIGINAL LETTER STATED THE REPAIR WOULD BE AVAILABLE IN SEVERAL MONTHS. I WAITED 6 MONTHS TO BE TOLD 3 TO 6 MORE MONTHS. WHAT IF I SELL OR TRADE THIS VEHICLE IN DOES THE MANUFACTURER TRACK THIS VEHICLE DOWN THROUGH REGISTRATION INFORMATION OR DOES THE VEHICLE GO UNREPAIRED AT A COST SAVINGS TO THE MANUFACTURER?
