A jeep Authorized Dealership Changed The Engine Oil And Oil Filter For My Vehicle. About 15 Minutes After I Took My Vehicle From The Dealership, The Incident Happened On A Highway. “service Transmission” Warning Showed Up First, The Engine Light Was On, And Some electronic Functions Were Disabled, Which Include, But Are Not Limited To, The Forward Collision Warning, The Parksense, The Lane Sense, And The Adaptive Cruise Control. The Esc Activation / Malfunction Indicator Light Was On. There Was Loud Rattling Noise From The Engine, And The Vehicle Was Shaking While Moving On The Highway. I Had A Difficult Time Moving The Vehicle Off The Highway. After I Parked On A Surface Road, I Found No Engine Oil Was Registered On The Dipstick. The Leaked Oil Was Splashed Over The Vehicle’s Exterior. In Particular, It Covered The Parking Sensors And The Rear Window, Which Disabled The electronic Safety Features And Greatly Reduced My Visibility While Driving. The Vehicles Behind Me On The Highway Were Also Splashed By The Leaked Oil And Were Beeping And/or Cutting In My Lane To Complain. The Dealership Determined That The Rubber Ring That Seals The Cartridge Housing Of The Oil Filter Was Broken, Causing The Engine Oil Leak. This O-shaped Rubber Ring Comes With The Oem Oil Filter That Was Installed When The Oil Filter Was Changed. The Engine Was Damaged. The Dealership Stated That No Test Drive Is Required To Check If There Is A Leak For Oil Change Service. Three Other jeep Dealerships Confirmed This Claim. I Believe There Is A Design Defect In The Oil Filter Sealing That Can Cause Life Threatening Accidents. I Believe jeep Does Not Instruct Their Authorized Dealership To Implement An Oil Filter Change Procedure That Ensures A Part Defect Like This Would Be Discovered Before The Vehicle Leaves The Dealership. *tr

Since A Computer Update To My 9 Speed Transmission, The Vehicle Has A Significant Wobble In The Front Wheels – Left To Right – When The Automatic Transmission Shift Between 1st, 2nd And 3rd Gears. It Feels As If The Power Transfer Is Confused And Fighting Between Sending Power To The Front Left And Right Wheels. It Is Significant Enough That It Is Felt In The Steering Wheel, Feet, Legs And Seat Of The Driver And The Passenger Feels The Wobble Also In The Floor And Seat. I Do Have A Fear Of The electronics And Computer Controls Since This Is A Defect Which Can Cause A Computer Malfunction While Driving The Vehicle. It Is An Important Safety Concern For Both The Vehicle Occupants And Other Drivers Around The Vehicle.

When Starting Vehicle From A Stop (not Initial Start Up), The jeep Has A Tenancy To Loose Power And Becomes Unresponsive From The Gas Peddle. When This Happens, I Have To Just Let Off The Gas And Then Give It 2-3 Seconds Before Being Able To Have Acceleration Power. Needless To Say, I Have To Give Much More Room When Turning. Along With This Issue, I Have A Issue With Power When Driving (again After Stopping, Never Initial Start And Drive) Where The Engine Revs High, Even When I Let Off The Gas, And It Does Not Increase Speed, And Looses Speed And Power. I Do The Same Thing Where I Let Off The Gas For A Few Seconds Till The Rpm Drops And Then Can Resume Driving Again.

Was Stopped At A Red Light In An Intersection When My Instrument Cluster/screen Lit Up With The Following: Cel On Abs/brake Lights On Service Parking Brake On 4×4 System Disabled Odometer Flashing Upon All Those Messages/lights Coming On We Lost All Power Steering Control To The Vehicle. Speedometer Was Not Functioning While Attempting To Move The Vehicle Out Of The Interaction Into A Nearby Parking Lot. Once Safely Parked In The Parking Lot We Turned Off The Car And Turned It Back On Again To The Same Messages/lights Turning On. We Regained Power Steering After We Turned It Off And Back On But All Other Issues Persisted. Called For A Tow Back To The Dealership. Chrysler Claimed It Was A Bad Abs Module. I Am Filing A Safety Complaint For Poor Electrical Design If An Abs Module Has The Ability To Bring Down The Entire Computer System In The 2014 cherokee This Can Pose A Serious Hazard To All Vehicle Operators.

On The 2012 jeep wrangler (lhd) Dashboard, The Airbag And Esp Warning Light Flashes On Every Other Minute With A Chime, An Indication That There Is Something Malfunctioning Or Interfering With The Vehicle’s Airbags.this Has Been A Recurring Issue And Concern For Many 2008+ jeep wrangler (lhd) Owners, Including Myself, And Has Been Shown Time And Time Again To Be Caused By A Poorly Designed Clockspring Within The Vehicle’s Steering Wheel. This Faulty Clockspring Is The Culprit For Potential Airbag Failures In The 2008 jeep wrangler (lhd) During An Accident Or Premature Deployment When Simply Driving Around, As Well As Hazardous, And Potentially Fatal Esp Inputs That Can Cause The jeep To Strike Into Other Vehicles And/or Objects On The Road, And Potential Roll-overs. Also, In The Case Of Steering Gear Box Failures, The Clockspring Is Designed In Such A Way That It Will Also Take Out The Clockspring, Effectively Doubling The Cost Of Any Required Repairs. Daimler Chrysler Has Refused To Address The Reliability Or Safety Concerns For This Issue. *tr

I Have A 2012 wrangler Sahara 4dr And This Past Week I Had To Tow My jeep Into A Dealership In Texarkana. I Was Driving 45 Mph And Not Trying To Gun The Rpms. I Had Total Shutdown But Was Able To Get Off The Road. The Dealership Hooked It Up And Told Me That My Asd 25 Amp Fuse Had Blown But Couldn’t Figure Out Why. My jeep Ran Okay For Much Of The Day But By Night It Blew Another Fuse As I Accelerated From A Green Light And Into The Intersection. I Replaced It With Another 25 Amp Fuse But Fear That If I Put A 30 Amp In That It Would Be Too Much For A Burn Out But I Wanted To Make Sure I Got Home. I Drove Back Home (an Hour Drive Up And Down Hills) And It Seemed To Always Want To Ramp Up The Rpms Suddenly. I Would Love To Know If Anyone Else Has Had This Kinda Issue? I Have Less Than 25,000 Miles On My jeep. Update… I Have Now Had Three Fuses Blow And Two Tows To Dealerships Because I Couldn’t Keep A Good Fuse. I Hope Someone Can Please Help Me Point Out The Direction The Dealership Needs To Be Looking For. This Is Getting Frustrating. It Seems To Blow A Fuse When I Hit Any Type Of Bump In The Road. No Electrical Mods Were Made Except My Warn Winch, Which Was Installed At The Dealership For Warranty Reasons. Currently My jeep Remain In A Tow Yard Until Tomorrow Where They Tow It Back To The Dealership * No Warning Lights Are Indicated * New Air Filters * No Electrical Mods * Factory Sound System * Rides Rough * When Fuse Blows, Total Vehicle Shutdown Occurs Including Power Steering And Brakes. *tr

Dear[xxx] A Very High Profile Accident Occurred In The Chattanooga, Tennessee Area On April 30, 2011. On That Date A [xxx] Drove Off A Cliff On Signal Mountain And Went Missing For 7 Months… T-3.4 Secs, The Yaw Rate Sensor Showed A Sudden Change In The Yaw Rate From -23 Degrees/second To 0 Degrees/second In 0.2 Secs. T-2.9 Secs, The Vehicle Detects The Sudden Change In The Yaw Rate And Causes The Esp Traction Lamp To Start Flashing. The Lamp Remains Flashing Up Until The Impact With A 300# Boulder At Which Time The Airbags Deployed Recording These Data. T-2.5 Secs, The Driver Notices The Flashing Esp Traction Lamp In 0.4 Secs Lifting Her Foot Off The Accelerator Briefly For 0.3 Seconds. The Accelerator Position Is Indicated By The Blue Line. She Then Reapplied The Accelerator To The Same Location By T-2.2 Secs Indicating That She Realized She Was Not Sliding Despite The Esp Traction Indicator. She Had Her Vehicle Under Control At This Time. T-1.8 Secs, The Esp Module Apparently Told The electronic Stability Pump To Lock Both Front Wheels While Allowing Both Back Wheels To Keep Driving The Vehicle Forward. This Suggests That In Addition To Her Yaw Sensor Failure There Was Also A Software Error That Took Place. (i Know Of No Circumstance When One Would Want Both Front Wheels To Lock In Order To Stabilize A Vehicle In Motion). The Locking Of Both Front Wheels Then Caused Her To Lose Control Ultimately Plunging Her Off The 300 Foot Cliff. T-0.5 Secs, Although The Driver Is Still 0.5 Sec From The Airbag Deployment The Yaw Rate Sensor Lost Communication With The Airbag Deployment Recorder Confirming That Her Yaw Rate Sensor Had Failed, I.e. These Readings Are Denoted As Sna. [xxx] Cc: [xxx] Information Redacted Pursuant To The Freedom Of Information Act (foia), 5 U.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr

E S P A Deadly Idea That Is Being Forced Upon Us. May Of 2010 I Purchased A jeep wrangler Unlimited. First Weekend Of September I Had E S P Failure. Took It To jeep The Following Wed. They Attempted To Return It To Me Unable To Duplicate, No Parts Replaced. The Problem Did Not “go Away “. E S P Failures Have Been Happening Since 2007. A Safety Device To Save You In A Crash Should Not Cause The Crash. Only About 12,300 Miles On The Vehicle. Factory Stock. No Mods. jeep Buying Back The Vehicle Will Not Protect Me Or My Loved Ones. The Others Will Still Be Out There On The Road. Forced Legislation Of This Will Actually Create Other Problems In Addition To The Failures. Various “hack Jobs” Will Be Performed In Order To Remedy The Problem But Will Actually Cause More Problems. I Already Have To Dodge Weaving Drivers For Other Reasons. Drunks Are At Least Attempting To Drive. Has No One Any Common Sense Anymore? If I Wanted To Be Driven I Would Hire A Chauffeur. Remember The Auto Seat Belts That Threw People Out Of Their Cars And Caused Them To Be Killed Or Paralyzed. ( I Personally Know Someone That This Happened To). How About The Air Bags Decapitating Children? That Really Saved Lives There. Let Us Not Forget The Recent Prius Failures. *tr
