My 2012 jeep wrangler Sahara 2-door With Automatic Transmission Exhibits The Following Issues: 1) Valve Train Ticking Noise. This Developed After A Few Months Of Ownership (bought November 2011) 2) Sluggish Acceleration And Automatic Transmission Shifting When Vehicle Is Cold. It Does Improve As Vehicle Is Warmed Up After Driving It For 5-10 Minutes, And By Then The Vehicle Seems To Operate Normal. 3) I Sometimes Feel A Thud Or Vibration Coming Up From The Steering Wheel. It Almost Feels As Something Is Loose In The Front-end. This Happens Sporadically. This Started Happening Just Recently. I Am Going To Discuss These Issues With The Chrysler Dealership When I Take It For The First Oil Change. *tr

Was Driving On Highway At Approximately 55 Mph And Hit A Small Bump In Road. The Front End Started To Shake Violently And Steering Wheel Went Side To Side. It Felt Like The Vehicle Was Going Out Of Control And I Feared I Might End Up In A Collision. I Slowed The Vehicle And Applied Brakes To Bring The Vehicle Under Control. Since That Time, It Has Occurred Often And It Is Very Dangerous. To Date, I Have Replaced The Steering Stabilizer And Checked All Other Components For Wear. Tires Have Been Balanced And Rotated. This Alleviated The Problem But The Problem Has Since Come Back. According To My Daughters, They Have Experienced The Front End Shake On Various Occasions While At School In Albuquerque. I Have Researched On The Internet And My Vehicle Problems Has Been Termed “death Wobble” By Other jeep wrangler Owners. I Also Found Out There Are A Lot Of Complaints But Chrysler jeep Has Not Issued Any Recalls To Fix This Problem. If I Can’t Fix The Problem, Then I Will Be Getting Rid Of My Vehicle For A Safe Vehicle. *tr

At Approximately 3,000 Miles I Performed The First Oil Change. I Found The Drain Plug, Which Is Typically Tight, To Be Loose. I Was Able To Remove It With My Fingers. At Approximately 6,000 Miles, I Began To Hear A Clunking Noise At Low Speeds. After Trying To Diagnose The Issue For Over A Week, I Finally Discovered The Problem. The Upper Anti-sway Bar Fasteners On The Front Suspension Were Loose. I Torqued Them Back To Specs Myself. I Am Concerned About What Other Nuts Or Bolts May Be Loose On This Vehicle. jeep Issued A Recall For “loose Suspension Fasteners” For 2010 And 2011 Models, But My Vin Is Not Included. 14mm Bolts Were Installed On The Assembly Line Of The Manufacturer (chrysler/dodge/jeep) In The Track Bar Bushings And Lower Control Arms Of The jeep wrangler Suspensions, Which Actually Calls For A 9/16″ Bolt. Not Only Were The Wrong Size Bolts Used, The Wrong Type Of Bolts Were Used In The Installation. The Bolts Used Were Threaded To The Head, Rather Than Using The Appropriate “shoulder” Bolt – Threaded At The Bottom And Smooth Up To The Head. By Installing The Wrong Bolts, The Threads Have Eaten Away At The Inside Of The Bushings, Causing The Round Hole To Have Wear From The Cutting Action, Thus Loosening The Surface Area Inside Which Can Lead To “death Wobble”. Death Wobble Is Where The Ball Joints, Track Bars, And Lower Control Arms In The Suspension Flutter While Driving, Causing The Steering Wheel And The Suspension To Shake Violently, Which Is Extremely Unsafe And Can Result In A Potential Accident Or Even Death. I Expect Chrysler/dodge/jeep To Issue A Recall And A Technical Service Bulletin To All Affected Vehicles. I Took My jeep To My Dealership And Upon Examination, Sure Enough, There Was Significant Wear Inside The Bushings Where These Bolts Were Installed By The Manufacturer. I Wanted To Replace Them With The Correct Size And Type Of Bolts To Rectify The Situation, But The Damage Has Already Been Done, Resulting In All New Parts Needing To Be Ordered (track Bars, Lower Control Arms, Etc.) I Was A Passenger Riding Along In A 2011 jeep wrangler That Exhibited The Infamous jeep Death Wobble, Which Is A Violent Shaking And Shuddering Of The Vehicle And Steering Wheel On A Completely Stock Vehicle With 20k Miles. The Driver Of The Vehicle Then Told Me That This Was The 3rd Occurrence He Has Experienced With His Vehicle. I Observed How Violently The Vehicle Shook And Was Very Relieved That We Did Not Roll Over Nor Hit Any Other Vehicles On The Road. The jeep Dealership Has Told Him Repeatedly That They Cannot Find Or Replicate The Problem He Experienced. I Am Shocked That Something So Common And Dangerous Has Gone Unfixed All This Time. *tr

While Traveling On The Highway At Approximately 55-60 Mph, My 2011 4-door jeep wrangler Hit A Small Bump. The jeep‘s Front-end/steering Wheel Began To Shake Uncontrollably. When Trying To Reduce The Speed By Braking, The Violent Shaking Only Became Worse. I Was Unable To Keep The Vehicle In The Lane Which I Was Driving Because Of The Out-of-control Shaking. Had There Been Other Vehicles In The Adjacent Lanes, There Most Definitely Would Have Been An Accident, With Possible Injuries, Given The Rate Of Speed That I Was Traveling. I Had To Reduce The Speed Of The Vehicle Simply By Not Applying The Gas Or Brake, Causing Cars Behind Me To Have To Brake, Which In Turn Could Have Resulted In Additional Accidents/injuries. This Uncontrollable Shaking Has Occurred In This Vehicle Approximately 5 Times. I Have Since Learned That This Is The Infamous “death Wobble.” Since This Is A Known Occurrence, Especially In jeeps, My Concern Is Why This Is Not Being Addressed And Being Required To Be Fixed. *tr *js

The First Incident Occurred On 9/26. My Partner Was Driving To Work And Made A Right Hand Turn From Mt. Holly Huntersville Rd On To Harris Blvd. He Was Traveling 45 Mph And Hit A Small Dip In The Road While Going Around A Curve. After Hitting The Bump The Vehicle Shook So Violently It Felt As If The Tires Were Going To Fly Off The Car, Steering The Vehicle Became Almost Impossible. Luckily He Was Able To Pull Over Near Pet’s Mart As He Slowed The Shaking Lessened. After Putting The Car In Park And Shutting The Car Off He Looked To Ensure There Were No Flat Tires. All Tires Were Good, He Again Started The Car And Arrived To Work Safely. I Researched This Type Of Incident And Found The Symptoms To Be Related To The “death Wobble.” Immediately I Called Lake Norman jeep Dealership Explained The Issues And Scheduled An Appointment For 9/28. At The Dealership They Installed A Steering Damper And Balanced The Tires. We Were Hoping This Solved The Problem It Didn’t. Tonight (10/8) My Partner Was Exiting 277 On To Highway 16 Traveling 55 Mph And Again Experienced The “death Wobble.” As He Was Merging Onto Highway 16 The Car Again Shook So Violently He Could Not Control The Steering, There Was A Car Next To Him And In The Rear. An Attempt To Turn The Car Made The Shaking Worse. He Quickly Put On His Hazards And Slowed The jeep Down To 20 Mph On This Highway. He Was Only Able To Regain Control Of The Steering After The Car Reached 20 Mph. Luckily No One Was Hurt And He Arrived Home Safely. I Am Concerned That This Is A Known Issue For jeep And Yet There Has Not Been A Recall On This Product. *tr

While Traveling On A Highway Or A High Speed Service Road, My jeep Will Begin To Shake Tremendously. I Have Researched And Found This Is Known As The “death Wobble.” I Am A Younger Driver And When The First Incident Happened, I Began To Freak. Although Not Very Many Accidents Actually Occur I Am Still Scared That It Will Happen Again. Sometimes I Can Feel It Coming On But Nothing Ever Happens. This Has Happened 3 Times In A Week And A Half, Once At 67mph, Once At 60mph, And Once At 55mph. This Is A Very Scary Event And I Hope To Get It Fixed Soon. I Wish That You Would Take The Time To Look Over This Incident And Fix It. Once Again Being A Young Driver This Is Very Scary. I Have Had My jeep For A Year And 2 Months And This Is The First Time It Has Happened. *tr

In Order To Correct The Failure, The Contact Had To Merge To The Shoulder And Stop The Vehicle Completely. The Vehicle Was Taken To The Dealer, Who Performed A Diagnostic And Stated That He Needed To Replace All Four Tires. The Tires Were Not Replaced. The Manufacturer Was Notified And Recommended That The Vehicle Be Taken To Another Dealer For A Second Diagnostic Test. The Failure Was Mileage Was 22,000. Updated 4/11/13 *cn The Dealership And Manufacturer Referred To The Problem As The Death Wobble. Many Speculate It Is Caused By The Track Bar, Alignment, Steering And Suspension Components, Or The Tires. The Consumers Vehicle Is Currently Backed By A Five Year Power Train Warranty. However, The Dealership Believed The Tires Needed To Be Replaced, At His Cost. The Consumer Did Not Believe The Tires Were The Issue.

I Started Feeling A Warble When I Would Hit A Bump On The Road, Took It Into A Les Schawb They Told Me It Was Warn Tie Rod Ends, So I Then Took It To jeep Dealer ‘lithia” In Eugene Oregon They Inspected It And Said Nothing Was Wrong. Today I Was Coming Home On Hwy 126 And After I Hit A Part Of The Road That Is Rough, The jeep Totally Went Out Of Control The Whole Thing Was Shaking So Bad I Had Everything I Could Do To Slow It Down And Pull Off To The Side Of The Road, It Probably Would Feel Like If All 4 Tires Popped At Once. It Scared Me So Bad, I Was Just Shaking. I Got Out Looked At All The Tires, And Underneath,l Seen Nothing Wrong So I Put On My 4 Way Flashers And Drove Home The Last 3 Miles At A Crawl. I Will Contact jeep Again On Monday And Tell Them There Is A Problem, The Power Steering Has Also Went Out Twice On This And Had To Be Fixed.

Main Issue – Driving Down The Road Hit A Bump/uneven Patch Of Road And The Car Shimmers/jerks/wobbles Back And Forth Providing A Feeling Of Losing Control Of The Vehicle. Honestly, I Have Noticed The Shimmering/wobbling/jerking Since The First Bump I Went Over With The jeep wrangler. I Thought This Was Normal For jeep As This Is My First jeep wrangler I Have Owned. I Even Went As Far As To Remove The Original Tires (more Off Road) And Get All Around Tires Recommended By The jeep Dealer Per My Private Car Maintenance Specialist. This Still Did Not Help. I Have This Uneasiness When Driving The jeep. I Have Learned To Brace Myself When I Notice Rough/uneven Road Ahead. While Traveling Northern Michigan (i-75) I Hit A Bump In The Road (the Road Was Partially Covered With Snow), The jeep Jerked/shimmered – I Spun Out Of Control Said A Few Prayers And Was Able To Bring The jeep Back Under Control Without Flipping. I Sat On The Side Of The Freeway For Almost A Half Hour Before I Had The Courage To Continue My Journey. My Younger Adult Children And Husband Do Not Like To Drive My jeep Because Of This Wobble/jerky Experience After A Bump/even Road. They Don’t Feel Safe. Something Needs To Be Done To Correct This Problem, Before Someone Is Injured Or Killed. *tr

Took It In To jeep And They Stated That Is Is Called The “death Wobble.” Correct Term In The Winter, In Snow And In A jeep. Third Time In The jeep Dealership And The Only Change Has Been The Steering Stabilizer Without Success. *tr

October 2009 I Purchased A 2010 jeep wrangler Unlimited From Southern Hospitality In Chesapeake, Virginia. This Was My Dream jeep- Lift Kit, Side Bars, Supreme Stereo System, And The Works. This Dream jeep Has Turned Into A Nightmare With A Death Wobble That Keeps Coming Back. I Share This jeep With My 17 Year Old Daughter Who Herself Has Experienced The Death Wobble, A Phone Call From The Side Of The Highway That Scared Me To Death. Below Is The List Of Dates And Mileage In Which I Have Returned This jeep To The Dealership For Them To Fix, But Each Time They Return It To Me The Wobble Returns. I Feel As If I Am Continually Putting Myself And My Daughter At Risk But Due To A Divorce My Finances Do Not Allow Me To Purchase A New jeep? Even Though Every Payment Has Been Made On This jeep. I Purchased My New 2010 jeep wrangler Sport Unlimited On March 02, 2011 With 4,839 Miles On It. The Vehicles Manufacturer Warranty Became Effective On March 02, 2011 And Extended To 40,839 Miles. I Returned The Vehicle For Service For The Same Front End Problems (vibration, Play In Front End, Etc – Though Described Slightly Different On Some Work Orders) Eight (8) Times From October 13, 2011 Through June 13, 2012. During That Time There Were Four (4) Service Attempts To Repair The Problem 10/13/11 Mileage 13,411 – 6/13/12 Mileage 23,352 – Services Recommended And Performed Range From Tire Rotation, Tie Rods And Damper Replaced, Toe Adjustment, And Lower Shearing Shaft Replacement. 3/07/13 Mileage 34,829 – I Brought The Vehicle In For Routine Nc Inspection. Inspection Passed. 3/09/13 As I Traveled Out Of Town With My Children We Experienced A Frightening And Stressful Time. When Driving At Highway, Or Near Highway Speeds, And Going Over A Bump The Front End Would Begin, At Random Times, To Have So Much Play And The Steering Would Shake Violently Making It Difficult To Control The Vehicle. This Caused Me To Have To Slow To The Side And Pull Off The Road. This Repair Issue Has Now Escalated To The Point That It Is A Dangerous Safety Hazard To My Children And Myself. Since This Incident I Have Discovered This A Known Problem With The Year, Make, And Model Of My Vehicle. Below You Will Find Two Links To Videos Demonstrating The Violent Shaking Which Occurs Due To This Problem. One Is A Perspective From Outside The Vehicle. The Other Is From Inside The Vehicle. Though The Gentleman In The Video Seems To Enjoy The Violent Shaking I Assure You It Was Simply A Terrifying Experience For A Mother Traveling Out Of Town Alone With Her Children. 2010 jeep wrangler Death Wobble. Started At 20k Miles. jeep Wobbles At Speeds Above 45. Wobbles So Bad You Have To Stop On A Freeway And Hold On Tight To The Steering Wheel. Very Dangerous. Dealer Tried To Fix With Steering Damper…no Fix. Then Changed Shocks And Tires. Worked For 30k. Came Back Even Worse. Now They Say They Have No Idea. Its All Over The Internet Why Doesn’t Chrysler Recall These? It Is Very Dangerous. I Am Afraid To Drive It. Whole Front End Shakes Especially When Going Over A Bump, Even A Small Bump. This Car Has Had 11 Serious Incidents Of What Is Called The “death Wobble”. The Car Hits A Bump Or Rough Edge On The Freeway Or Highway And Immediately Goes Into An Uncontrolled Wobble Of The Steering Wheel And The Wheels Wiggle Back And Forth. This Can Only Be Stopped By Slowing Down Or Stopping. The Incident Described Above 1st Occurred On August 10, 2013 At 2:00 Pm On Highway 101 In Newport, Oregon After I Hit A Bump. It Occurred On August 25, 2013 5 Times At About 10:00 Am On Interstate 3 In Oregon After Hitting A Bump Or Rough Section In The Road. It Occurred 3 Times On Highway 99 In California After It Hit A Bump In The Road. Finally, It Occurred 4 Times On August 25th. This Car Is Unreliable And Unsafe To Drive On Any Freeway. This Car Has Never Been Driven Off Road Or Mistreated And Has Only 62,000 Miles, Mostly Miles Are Freeway Miles. The Car Will Be Evaluated By An Independent Auto Repair Shop And Then By A jeep Dealership. As Stated, The Incidents Described Above Are Serious And Can Cause The Car To Out Of Control. The Car Was Purchased New In July 2010. There Are A Number Of Reports On This Car That Describe The Death Wobble. They Are: (1) The Congressional Letter Of March 19, 2012 From Congressman Henry Waxman And Congresswoman Anna Eschoo To Nhtsa’s Administrator Stickland Asking For Data On The “death Wobble” As Well As Chrysler’s Response To The Incidents. (2) Abc’s San Francisco Affiliates April 12, 2012 Report On Tv About The Death Wobble-both Reporters Also Personally Experienced The Same Incident. (3) A Follow- Up Report On July 5, 2012 By Abc In San Francisco That States That There Are Over 600 Reports On This Incident. (4) Chrysler’s Issuance Of A Technical Service Bulletin 19-002-12 To Help Dealers Work On The Steering/wobble Problem. This Is A Manufacturing Defect That Relates To The Suspension.

While Driving On The Interstate, My jeep Steering Wheel And Front Of jeep Will Intermittently Start Shaking Violently, Causing Me To Have To Slow Down Suddenly And Pull Over To The Side Of The Road. It’s Very Scary And I Am Afraid It May Cause An Accident Because It Happens So Suddenly At A High Speed. I Purchased My jeep About A Year Ago From A Chrysler Dealer And Within A Week Noticed It Had A “popping” Noise When Backing Up And Then Going Forward. I Have Taken My jeep To This Chrysler Dealer 3 Times To Have This Checked Out. The First Time, They Told Me I Needed New Brakes, So I Had New Brakes Installed, But My jeep Continues To Make This “popping” Noise. The Last 2 Times I Took My jeep To This Chrysler Dealer, They Insist There Is Nothing Wrong With My jeep And They Do Not Hear This Noise. Now My jeep Has Had These Episodes Of Violent Shaking And I Wonder If The Two Problems Are Connected. I Have Seen Reports Of A “jeep Death Wobble” And Feel This Is The Same Thing That I Have Had Occur With My jeep. Is There Any Kind Of Recall For This Problem? *tr

While Exiting A 55 Mph Speed Zone Onto A 65mph Interstate Highway I Experienced Extreme Shaking In The Front End. The jeep Actually Hopped On The Road Forcing Me To Pull Over. This Has Happened 4 More Times In The Course Of 1 Month. I Took It To The Shop At My Dealer. My Vehicle Was In The Shop For 1 Week In Which The Transmission Was Replaced. The Same Issue Began Happening 3 Days After I Got It Back. I Returned It To The Dealer Explaining The Issue And Began Researching On My Own. I Came Across Many Instances Of The Same Thing- Death Wobble. It Happens When My jeep Hits 60-70 Mph Causing Me To Have To Immediately Stop The Vehicle, Usually In High Speed Interstate Traffic Causing Danger To Myself And Other Motorists. My jeep Is Stock, So The Excuse About Being Lifted Does Not Apply To Me. It Seems Chrysler Knows About The Issue And Does Nothing To Recall The Vehicles. I’m Being Told The Parts/repairs Are Not Covered Under Warranty. This Is Unacceptable. *tr

This Has Happened Multiple Times, While Driving At A Higher Rater Of Speed (anything Above 45mph) And Going Around A Curve, The Front End Begins To Violently Shake To The Point That It Is Difficult/impossible To Control And You Must Pull Off To The Side Of The Road. Aka The Death Wobble. There Was Not A Pot Hole, Or Anything In The Way, Just A Regular Road. I Have Had To Do This On Several Occasions And On Busy Highways, Nearly Causing An Accident And Being Rear Ended Since I Had To Stop Suddenly And Pull Off The Road. I Have Take It In A Number Of Times With This Problem And No Solution Is Found, They Just Keep Wanting To Rotate My Tires. *tr

I Have A 2010 jeep Jk Unlimited 4×4. I Bought The Vehicle Used From A Local Dealer In July Of 2013, With Approx. 10k Miles On It. At About 18k Miles, I Began Experiencing The Common Dreaded “death Wobble”. I Was Driving Down A Country Road With My Children In The Back Seats. All Of A Sudden, While Hitting A Small Bump In The Road, The Steering Wheel Began Rapidly Moving Back And Forth And The Frontend Of The Vehicle Was Shaking Violently. I Quickly Stopped The Vehicle, Checked On My Now Frightened Children, Then Go Out To Examine My Vehicle. I Couldn’t Find Anything Obvious, Like Tie Rods Or Ball Joints. So, I Slowly Drove Home. I Went Over The Entire Front End. Couldn’t Find Anything. After Reading A Lot Of Forums On The Matter, I Found I Am One Of Many jeep Owners That Have/are Fighting This Same Issue. I Went Ahead And Put On A New Steering Stabilizer, And Trackbars, As These Are Claimed To Be The Most Common Issues (even Though Mine Looked Fine And Had No Play). I Continually Have Had The Problem And Have Had It To Shop For An Alignment, Tire Rotations, And Checking The Balancing On The Tires. The Shop Said Tires And Alignment Were Fine. We Found That There Was Some Play In The Sector Shaft Where The Pitman Arm Connects To The Steering Gearbox. Some Guys Are Saying They Have Replaced Theirs 3 Times In 30k Miles. I Don’t Offroad, My Vehicle Isn’t Exposed To Harsh Conditions, Where One Could Expect Mechanical Failures. I Currently Have 26k Miles On Mine, And Have Been Trying To Find Out The Cause, Meanwhile Throwing $$ And Parts On It To Try And Find The Issue. After Researching And Seeing The Large Amount Of Owners Fighting Death Wobble And The Component Failures Which Cause It, I Feel Chrysler Should Be Held Accountable To Some Level. I Think They Should Be Recognizing The Problem And The Large Scale Of It, And Offering Some Type Of Solution To Fix The Issue. *tr

While Driving On Highway At Approximately 55-60 Mph My jeep Has Started To Violently Shake And Shudder After Hitting A Bump. It Will Only Stop Shaking After Pulling Over To The Side Of The Road And Slowing Down To 15-20 Mph Or Stopping All Together. The Day It Started We Were Taking A Trip To New Orleans And It Happened 6 Or 7 Times In Less Than 100 Miles. I Will Be Taking It In To The Dealer In The Morning, But After A Quick Search Of The Nhtsa Database It Seem This Has Been A Regular Occurrence And Recurrence With jeeps For Many Years. Luckily We Were On A Secondary Highway When This Occurred And Not On A Major Interstate At 70-75 Mph (yet). The Wife Is Now Terrified To Drive The Vehicle And I’m Not To Comfortable With It At This Point. To Make Matters Worse We’re Being Stationed Overseas And Planned On Letting Our Son In College Use The Vehicle Which Doesn’t Seem Like A Great Option At This Point. We’ve Also Noticed, For The Past Few Weeks, The Manual Transmission Will Jump Out Of 1st Gear When Taking Off. I Looked Forward To Owning A jeep 4-door For Some Time And This Is Rather Disappointing And I Wouldn’t Have Even Considered Buying It If I Had Been Told This Would Happen, Especially With Less Than 20,000 Miles On It, None Of Which Are Off-roading Miles. I Believe jeep Should Have To Warn It’s Potential Customers If They Do Not Want To Bother Fixing An Obvious Design Flaw And Should Have To Remove All Their “trail Rated” Badges From All Vehicles. It’s No Wonder Chrysler Is Having Financial Troubles Since They Can’t Make A 4×4 That Can Handle A Bump.

I Have Had This jeep In To The Dealer 5 Times Now For The Same Problem. It Is Only 2 And A Half Years Old. The First Time I Brought It In Was Approx 4 Months After I Bought The Truck Brand New. They Have Yet To Fix The Problem. When You Drive Approx. 55 Mph On A Highway, And Possibly Hit A Little Bump, The Car Will Shake Uncontrolably. You Cannot Hit The Break Or It Gets Worse But Sometimes Your Forced To Because You Will Crash Otherwise. The Whole Front End Wobbles To A Point Where You Loose All Control Of The Vehicle. The Dealship Stated The First Time After It Happened That They Fixed It… The Other Two Times They Said The Same Thing . The Fourth Time They Decided To Say It Was My Tires. ( I Dont Know Why They All Of A Sudden Changed The Problem). Rotating The Tires Fixed The Problem For About 6 Months Until I Had To Bring It In Again And They Now State They Can’t Find Anything Wrong With It. But Apparantly There Is. Very Fed Up With The Whole Situation. And Very Nervous Driving The Truck. *tt

I Was Driving On The Highway Around 65 Mph During Rush Hour Traffic. I Hit A Bump In The Road And The Front End Of My jeep Felt Like It Was Violently Bouncing From Side To Side. I Could Hardly Keep The Vehicle In My Own Lane. I Was Terrified. I Got Off The Road As Soon As Possible. I Got Out, Looked At It And Saw Nothing Wrong. I Called My Husband, And He Would Not Let Me Drive It Home. He Drove It To Our Mechanic, And Other Than My Brakes Needing Work, He Found Nothing Wrong. The Mechanic Fixed My Brakes And I Took It Home. The Next Time I Took It Out, It Did It Again. My Mechanic Took It Back, Drove It Himself, And The jeep Did The Same Thing. My Mechanic Did Some Research Online And Said It Was The “death Wobble”. He Tightened Some Bolts On The Bar That Aren’t The Right Size For The Vehicle.. It Didn’t Help. Now I Have A jeep That I Am Afraid To Drive, And Really Can’t Afford To Fix, If It Can Even Be Fixed. From What I Researched Online, It Seems To Only Get Better For Awhile, Then The Problem Returns. Why Isn’t jeep Taking Care Of This Problem? Do People Have To Get Injured Or Killed Before They Do Something? The Lemon Law May Be My Only Option If It Can’t Be Fixed, And I May Have To Keep The Vehicle For Some Time Before That Could Go Through. Please Do Something About These jeeps With The “death Wobble”. *tr

My Wife Had Just Taken Our 2009 jeep wrangler To The Dealership For Routine Maintenance, Which Included An Oil Change And Tire Rotation. On Her Way Home From The Dealership The Vehicle Started Shaking Dramatically So She Pulled Off The Road And Called Me. I Told Her That If The Tires Were Rebalanced Then A Weight Might Have Fallen Off Causing One Of The Tires To Be Out Of Balance And Told Her To Try And Drive It Home At A Slow Speed. She Was Able To Get The Vehicle Home And The Shaking Did Not Happen Again. A Couple Days Later She Took The jeep Back To The Dealer And Asked Them To Recheck The Tire Balancing. They Indicated That One Of The Tires Was Out Of Balance So They Fixed It And We Thought The Problem Was Solved. A Couple Weeks Later I Was Driving The jeep At About 55mph When We Hit A Small Bump In The Road And It Started A Rather Violent Shaking And Wobbling In The Front End Of The Vehicle. I Had To Slow Down Significantly To Regain Control Of The Vehicle. My Wife Took It Back To The Dealership And They Drove The Vehicle But Said They Were Unable To Get It To Duplicate The Shaking And They Indicated That There Might Be A Problem With The Drive Shaft. I Started Driving The Vehicle More Often In Order To Take Note Of All The Conditions Present When The Shaking Occurs And To Try To Diagnose The Problem. I Was Surprised When I Started To Research It On The Internet And Immediately Found Several Websites Discussing A Condition Referred To As A “death Wobble”. The Symptons Described Are Precisely What We Have Experienced. There Is A Violent Shaking And Wobbling Of The Vehicle And You Have To Slow Down Immediately To Regain Control. Our jeep Is Stock And No After-market Modifications Have Been Made To The Suspension System. I Consider This To Be A Significant Safety Issue That Needs To Be Addressed Immediately.

While Driving At 55 Mph On A Slight Turning Radius, The Right Front Started To Vibrate, Then It Went To The Left Side, Back To The Left Side, back And Forth. Each Time It Transferred, It Increased.the Severity Of The Wobble Effect. I Had To Put A “death Grip” On The Steering Wheel To Maintain Control Of The Vehicle. The Only Way That I Could Stop The “death Wobble” Was To Pull Off The Road And Stop The Vehicle. It Was Like A Demon Took Control Of The Vehicle. The Next Day The Vehicle Did The Same Thing While I Was Driving With My Daughter(age 29). This Time On A Straight Section Of Road Going At 45 Mph. She Thought That The Tire Fell Off! Again, The Only Way That I Was Able To Stop The Wobble Was To Stop The Vehicle. Both Of These Incidents Could Have Ended In Serious Accidents! This Is A Well Maintained Stock Vehicle With Balanced Tires. *tr

While Driving My Vehicle Down The Interstate For About 10 Min At A Speed Of About 72miles Per Hr, My jeep Started Shaking From The Front And Back. It Was So Intense I Felt As Though I Was Going To Crash. I Have Had Tires Blow And U Joints Go Bad And This Didn’t Compare. I Don’t Drive In A Rough Terrain And Not Often At These Speeds. But I Felt As Though I Had No Control. When I Decelerated To 50 The Shaking Had Stopped. There Had Been No Previous Warning Of This Problem. When Taking It In To Get Looked At The Dealer Said There Was Nothing Wrong. The Next Day I Took It In For The Same Problem And My Universals Need Replaced, Axle Seals Are Bad And My Drive Shaft Needs To Be Replace. *tr

I Was Driving On The Interstate Going 65 Mph And All Of A Sudden The jeep Started Shaking Uncontrollably. I Thought I Was Going To Wreck And I Was In A Panic. I Slowed Down To An Unsafe Speed To Make It Stop. Then I Exited And Checked The Vehicle Out To My Surprise Everything Was Fine. So I Got Back On The Road And Continued On. Then I Had To Exit And It Started Doing It Again. This Time Is Was So Violent I Thought I Was Going To Go Off The Exit And Crash. I Have Never Had A Lift On My jeep Or Anything It Is All Manufacture Parts. I Believe With All My Heart That jeep Has Made A Faulty Front End. When I Contacted Them They Said They Didn’t Know How To Fix It. Please Recall This It Is Very Dangerous And Going To Get Someone Killed. *tr

I Have Experience What Is Commonly Referred To As The “wrangler Death Wobble” On Over Three Occasions. These Are Dangerous Situations Where The Steering Begins To Wobble Uncontrollably Side To Side. The Violence Of The Wobble Increases Quickly Making It Tough To Hold Onto The Steering Wheel And Maintain Control, Especially If This Occurs In Multi-lane Roads. Increasing Speed Results In The Wobble Becoming More Violent. The Only Way To Recover Is To Brake Quickly And Bring Your Vehicle To A Near Stop (at Least Under 5 Mph) Before The Wobbling Subsides. The “death Wobble” Appears To Be Brought On By The jeep Tires Hitting A Pot Hole, Railroad Crossing, Or Other Rough Spots In The Road At A Slight Angle. Usually Around 35+ Mph. Faster Speeds, Such As Highway (55-75) Do Not Seem To Create The Issue But Accelerating To Enter A Highway Does, And Has In My Case As You Pass Between 30-40mph. To Recover The Driver Aggressively Apply The Brakes (without Warning To Those Behind Them) As The Wobble Severity Increases Quickly. This Creates A Safety Issue. The Wobble Also Has An Adverse Affect On The Steering Dampers Which Soon Begin Leaking Fluids From The Violent Wobbles. *tr

I Was Traveling At 65 Mph When I Heard A Sound From The Rear Passenger Side. I Immediately Pulled Over To Discover My Tire Was Completely Flat And The Valve Stem Had Come Loose. This Is The Second Time This Has Happened, The First Was Back In November. The Time Span For The Latest Incident Was Approx. 10-15 Seconds. A Rapid Deflation. I Had Just Put New Tires On The jeep In Nov. Now One Of Them Is Destroyed. I Talked To Two jeep Dealers Since The Event On 3/8/13. Both Of Them Said That There Is A Problem With These Parts Failing In Northern States Due To Corrosion And That If ” I Lived In California, This Would Not Be An Issue.” I Was Offered New Rubber Tmps Stems For $433.00. Not Satisfactory. I Feel I Was Lucky That This Was Not A Front Tire! *tr

Anytime You Hit A Pothole Or Bump In The Road The Vehicle Goes Into A Violent Shimmy/shake. When This Occurs You Must Exit The Roadway Immediately And Come To A Complete Stop Before You Can Gain Control Of The Vehicle. This Vehicle Is Straight From The Factory, No Modifications Have Been Made. I Work In A Garage On Vehicles And Have Knowledge Of Mechanics Of Vehicles. There Is No Ball Joints, Tie Rods, Bushings Etc. That Has Wear That Would Be Responsible For This Vehicle To Have This Dangerous Issue. When You Contact jeep, They Say To Replace The Steering Stabilizer Shock. There Is A Design Flaw In The jeep. This Is Why I Have Had To Replace The Steering Stabilizer Shock Twice So Far. *tr

Every Time Since February When I Hit A Bump The jeep Starts Shaking Violently. I Keep Hearing Of It Being The jeep Death Wobble. It Has Torn Up My Tires And Affected Many Parts And Now I Can Not Even Hit A Bump At 30 Mph Without It Starting To Shake. Not Sure What To Do To Fix. I Called My Dealer To See What They Suggested And They Had Never Heard Of The jeep Death Wobble Which Chrysler Had Apparently Sent Out A Notice To All Companies About It. I Have Heard Of Several Complaints On This. My jeep Is Stock And Never Been Modified And Never Been Taken Off Road. It Is A Family Vehicle And Now I Just Want To Get Rid Of It! *tr

Driving At 50 Mph And Faster, When The Vehicle Hits A Bump The Steering Starts To Shake Uncontrollably. The Wheels Shimmy From Side To Side And Only Stops When The Vehicle Slows To Below 40 Mph, And In Some Instances Only Stops When The Vehicle Comes To A Complete Stop. This Is Extremely Scary And Dangerous Especially When It Occurs On The Highway, As You Need To Weave Through Traffic At A High Speed To Find A Safe Place To Pull Over. This Issue Is Well Known Throughout The jeep Community, As It Has It’s Own Nickname The “death Wobble”. Chrysler Has Acknowledged That This Has Become A Common Issue Among Their Vehicles; However, Has Done Nothing In The Form Of Recalls Or Service To Help Customers Fix The Issue. In A Report By Abc News, They Stated That There Have Been Over 600 Reports Of The Same Issue I Have Experienced. I Brought My Vehicle To A Chrysler Certified Auto Shop To Get It Fixed And They Could Not Identify The Problem. They Did A Front End Alignment On My Car Saying That Might Fix The Problem; However, It Did Not. The “death Wobble” Has Occurred In My Vehicle 5 Times Since The Initial Incident In April. *tr

At Highway Speed (50-70 Mph) Vehicle Would Shake Violently After Hitting A Bump. Vehicle Needs To Come To A Complete Stop To Correct The Wobble. After A Little On Line Research, I Discovered “death Wobble.” Service Writers At Both Milosch Palace jeep And Al Deeby jeep Knew Right Away What I Was Talking About. I Cannot Believe There Is Not A Safety Recall For This. It Seems Everyone With Knowledge Of jeeps Is Aware Of The Issue. This Is Very Dangerous On Highwaysinterstates, Especially For Inexperienced Drivers, Because The Vehicle Needs To Come To A Stop To In Order To Stop The Wobble. In August 2013 My jeep wrangler Began To Develop An Unpredictable, Uncontrollable, Violent Shimmy At Highway Speeds. Sometimes A Small Bump Or A Lane Change Would Set An Event Off. Shimmy Did Not Stop Without Hard Braking And Coming To A Near Stop. Commonly Referred To As “death Wobble”. The First Attempt At Repair, Mileage 30,381, Was To Replace The Factory Installed Steering Damper With A Upgraded Steering Damper. The New Steering Damper Required Different Hardware To Install. My Cost, $366.77 Which Chrysler Reimbursed The Cost Of Parts @ $266.77. I Am $100.00 Out Of Pocket For Labor Costs To Replace This Defective Part Which Was Installed At The Factory! The Problem Of Uncontrolled Shimmy Was Not Fixed! The Second Attempt To Repair My Vehicle, Mileage 32,982, Was To Balance And Rotate All Tires. The Problem Was Not Fixed! The Third Attempt To Repair My Vehicle, Mileage 33,902, Involved Replacing All Four Defective Ball Joints And A Defective Drag Link Assembly. Cost To Me, $1793.47. Chrysler Eventually Reimbursed The Cost Of Parts @ $849.07. On This Repair I Am Out Of Pocket $944.40 Labor Costs To Replace Defective Parts As Installed At The Factory! I Have Filed A Complaint With The Better Business Bureau (case #9919310) And The Case Is Still Ongoing. No Vehicle Operated Under Normal Conditions Should Have To Have Major Components, Which Affect Vehicle Control And Safety, Fail And Need Replacement At Less Than 34,000 Highway Driven Miles! I Do Not Read Anywhere On My Service Receipts Stating The Parts That Have Been Replaced Carry Any Warranty. I Am Very Concerned That Genuine jeep Parts Are Of The Same Quality As Originally Used By jeep To Manufacture My Vehicle, And Will Fail Again Within The Next 30,000 To 35,000 Miles, If Not Sooner! *tr

Around 30,000 Miles I Would Notice A Slight Shimmy In The Front End At Freeway Speeds When A Small Bump Was Hit. This Would Usually Last A Few Seconds And Then Drive Normal. I Read Some Thing Online About This And It Seemed Like It Was A Normal Thing For This 4dr jeep Model. In Early March 2014 About 39000 Miles I Hit A Big Bump On The Freeway And The Front End Shimmy Was So Intense I Thought The Front Passenger Tire Was Flat At First It Seemed Like It Was Coming Off. A Few Hours Later This Happened Again Before I Made It Home. I Did Research And Found The References To The “death Wobble” And Knew That’s What It Was. I Was Thankful No One Else Was In The Car With Me. Another jeep Owner I Know Knew The Term And Had Heard About These Problems. Then April 1st Hit A Bump I Could Not Avoid On The Pot Hole Infested Milwaukee Streets And It Happened Again The Tire Felt Like It Was Coming Off And Almost Had Accident In The Construction Zone I Was In. Called Dealer And They Knew Exactly What I Was Talking About. Apparently Chrysler Switched The Dampener/brackets After The 2009 Yr Models When They Noticed Problems. Funny How That Replacement I Had To Have Done Cost Me $ 400+. You Would Think If They Know There Was A Problem This Wouldn’t Cost The Consumer A Penny. We Were Driving On A Limited Access Highway When I Hit A Section Of Rough A Rough Road About 6 Feet Long. The Front End, Steering Wheel & Transmission Shook Violently! Once I Got Below 45 Mph It Stopped. I Could Not Steer The Vehicle. This Has Happened 6 Times Now At Speeds As Low As 50 Mph. It Would Happen A Lot More If I Did Not Slow Down When I Come Across Patched Spots In The Road Or Where Overpasses And Bridges Meet The Solid Road Bed. On Smooth Roads, There Is No Vibration That I Can Feel. I Talked To The Previous Owner And He Never Had A Problem. It Has Never Been Off Road, Lifted Or Wrecked. The Garage Replaced The Steering Gear Box Under Warranty And I Paid For The Alignment Check And Tire Balance. I Rotated The Tired And Then Put A New Tire On The Right Front. I Checked For Play In All The Suspension And Steering And Found Very Little. The Garage Said They Found None. I Then Installed A Heavy Duty Steering Stabilizer. It Did Not Help. The Garage Said There Was Nothing More They Could Do. When I Asked jeep Was Their A Problem Called Death Wobble, Because There Are A Lot Of Postings, They Did Not Answer. Instead, The Service Manager Suggested I Buy 4 New Tires And Get A Road Force Balance. A Friend Sent Me To Another jeep Dealer To Talk To His Friend, Who Was Well Aware Of The Problem And Had Not Been Able To Fix It On Other jeeps. There Was No Remedy Or Help From Chrysler jeep. He Has Had It Happen To Him And Will Not Ride In Or Drive One Again. He Suggested Not Driving Interstates And Below 55 Mph On The Highway. I Was Driving On Interstate 70 At Approximately 65mph, I Hit A Bump, And My jeep Started To Shake And Vibrate So Dramatically That I Had To Slow Down To About 35mph Before It Would Stop. I Was So Frightened That I Pulled Over And Was Afraid To Continue Driving. Thinking It Was My Tires About Ready To Fall Off, I Creeped Off Of The Interstate And Drove About 15mph Back To The Tire Dealership Where I Had Bought My Tires. They Could Find Nothing Wrong. I Then Took It To The jeep Dealership And They Replaced The Steering Dampner And Updated A Bracket. It Did Not Fix The Problem. I Took It Back To The Dealership Where They Then Replaced The Drag Link End. They Then Told Me It Had To Be The Tires. They, Not One Time, Mentioned What I Have Now Researched And Found To Be A “death Wobble” Problem That Many jeep Owners Have Experienced. I Don’t Know What To Do Next. The Problem Has Not Been Fixed And My Tires Only Have 15k Miles On Them And I Am Thinking This Is Not The Problem. The Wobble That I Have Experienced Now Dozens Of Times Is Not Only Frightening But I Fear Is Very Dangerous. I’m Not Sure What My Recourse Is At This Point. *tt

The jeep Shakes Violently When It Hits A Bump In The Road. It Seems To Happen Mostly On The Highways, Although It Will Occur On A City Road. During This Shaking The Brakes Do Not Slow The Car Down And It Is Impossible To Steer To The Side Of The Road. This Is Extremely Scary And Dangerous. The Car Has Been In Numerous Times And Nothing Seems To Fix The Problem. *tr

Vehicle Begins To Shudder From Road Conditions, Then When You Strike A Bump, Or The Road Surface Changes, The Vehicles Then Violently Shakes And Will Not Cease Until Slowed To 30mph Or Increased To 70mph. Very Dangerous Situation On Freeways. It Appears That The Entire Front End Is About To Shake The Wheels Loose, Then Transfers To The Rear Wheels Sometimes. Then When It Appears The Phenomena Is Over, It Can Reoccur Again Just As Quickly. My Wife Refuses To Drive It, Nor Will She Allow My Son To Ride In It Until It Is Resolved. *tr

The Vehicle’s Front End Began To Vibrate With Resonance Until The Entire Vehicle Was Shaking So Badly That It Had To Be Pulled Off The Side Of The Road. This Phenomenon Is Well Documented By Many Sources As “death Wobble.” The Initial Incident Happened While Driving On A Two-lane Highway In Good Condition. On This Same Drive, There Were Two More Incidents Of Death Wobble. After These Occurrences, The Vehicle Was Taken In To A Mechanic For Inspection, Front-end Alignment And Tire Balancing. There Were No More Incidents Of Death Wobble Until Nearly A Month Later When It Occurred On The Highway At Approximately 70 Mph. After This Incident, The Vehicle Was Taken To A Mechanic That Specializes In jeep Maintenance And Customization. The Cause Of The Problem Was Identified As Slop In The Stock Track Bar. The Vehicle Has Stock Suspension, Wheels And Tires. The Vehicle Has Been Well Maintained With Tire Rotations Done At Regular Intervals. Other Than These Incidents Of Death Wobble, The Vehicle Does Not Have Any Other Noticeable Problems. Following The Track Bar Diagnosis, The Vehicle Was Taken To A Dealership For Inspection. The Dealership Diagnosed Several Other Front End Components As Being In Need Of Replacement, At A Significantly Higher Cost, Contradictory To The Two Previous Independent Inspections. *tr

I Was Driving Down The Highway And All The Sudden The Whole Vehicle Including The Steering Wheel Started To Shake Horribly. I Don’t Feel Like I Can Control The Steering When This Occurs. Stepping On The Brakes To Slow Down/stop Makes It Worse. Once I Drop Back Below 40 Mph It Stops, Til The Next Time It Happens. In The Beginning It Was Only Occasionally. Recently It Has Been Occurring More Frequently. It Is Very Scary When This Occurs. My Mechanic Replaced The Steering Dampener But That Did Not Fix This Issue. I Have No Idea What This Issue Is But It Is Not Safe To Be Driving While This Is Occurring. *tr

This Is My Second Online Complaint Regarding The “death Wobble” I Have Experienced In My jeep. I Had The Issue “fixed” In September, Though It Began To Happen Again In Early December. I Took My jeep Back In To The Dealership And They Replaced The Steering Damper With A “high Performance” Model. They Did This At No Charge Because They Said The Original “fix” Was Still Under Warranty. I Thought This Took Care Of Things. Two Days Ago, I Was Driving About 45 Mph On A Busy Service Road And The Vehicle Began To Shake Violently Again. I Immediately Had To Slow Down And Almost Come To A Stop Before It Would Stop. Nearby Drivers Had To Swerve To Miss Me And The Guy Behind Me Almost Rear-ended Me. This Has Got To Stop. I Took My jeep Back To The Dealership This Morning And They Said They Would Look Into It And Call Me Back. The Saga Continues. *tr

Death Wobble 2008 jeep wrangler. Bought Vehicle In Oct 2011, 5 Occurrances Of Death Wobble, All On Freeways Through Jan 10th 2012. Only Recourse Is To Pull Over & Stop After Hitting A Bump Or Groove In The Road. Newtons Law, Every Action Causes A Reaction. Front Wheels Will Start Shaking Begin Gradually Then Violantly Until You Can Luckily Pull Over & Stop. Once Stopped, You Can Start Again & Not Experience It Again For Weeks & Then It Happens Again Whenever You Least Expect It. Very Hard To Even Control The Vehicle Once It Abruptly Starts. Dealer Says It’s Damper Needs Replaced For 250$. Doing This… But This Really Feels Like This Should Be A Recall Issue Or Covered Under A Easy Care Warranty That I Was Duped Into Buying As Well. After 4 Months Of Owning A 20,000$ Car & Nearly Killed 5 Times Is Outrageous. Many People Wouldn’t Have Been Able To Control A Vehicle If This Happened To Them. This Is A Chrysler Defect & They Should Be Addressing This Before Someone Is Killed By Their Faulty Engineering And/or Parts. *tr

Once My Vehicle Reaches A Speed Of 50 Mph, Goes Over A Bump, Or Around Some Turns, It Starts To Shake Uncontrollably. This Shaking Does Not Subside Until I Stop The Vehicle. It Has Gotten Worse And Worse To The Point Where It Happens About Every 2 Miles If I Am Going 50 Mph. I Can Not Go Above 50 Mph Which Is Quite Dangerous On The Freeway Because The Speed Limits Here Are 65-70 Mph. When I Go Over A Bump And It Starts To Happen, If There Is No Place To Pull Over (which Has Happened) I Must Come To A Complete Stop Right Where I Am, Or Continue To Drive While The Vehicle Is Shaking Uncontrollably, And I Am Unable To Steer. This Is Completely Visible To Others Not Inside The Vehicle As Well, As I Have Been Pulled Over, Verbally Yelled At, Honked At, Etc… *kb

When My jeep Hits A Bump On The Highway (left Tire First) The Entire jeep Starts Shaking Violently. It Feels Like The Tires Are About To Fall Off. This Happens Whenever I Go Over 50mph (which Could Be Extremely Dangerous On The Highway With Other Cars). It Doesn’t Stop Until I Come To A Complete Stop. I Have Found Hundreds Of Posting About This Issue And Every Single One Says That Chrysler Says Nothing Is Wrong. If Most jeeps Built After 2007 Have This Issue, Maybe It’s A Manufacturer Defect? *tr

2008 jeep wrangler. Consumer Writes In Regards To Mechanical Problems And Brake Line Routing Defect *tgw The Consumer Stated The First Problem He Had With The Vehicle Was The Transmission. It Began Failing To Engage And Shifting Out Of Gear. The Dealer Discovered That The Transmission Oil Filter Had Not Been Installed And Was Lying On The Bottom Of The Transmission Oil Pan. In January 2011, While Driving At Highway Speeds, The Consumer Began To Experience Intermittent Violent Shaking Of The Entire Vehicle, Which Seemed To Be Originating From The Front End. The Consumer Stated It Felt As Though A Wheel Was Loose. The Consumer Went To A Repair Shop, Where The Tie Rod And Pitman Were Replaced. Two Weeks Later, The Shaking Occurred Again And Soon It Became Increasingly Violent ,making It Nearly Impossible To Control The Vehicle And Stay In His Lane. The Consumer Returned To The Repair Shop Where They Replaced The Steering Damper, Which Seemed To Correct The Problem For Awhile. In July, The Consumer Took The Vehicle For A Routine Maintenance Check. While Checking The Front End, The Mechanic Was Able To Get Two Full Turns On A Nut On The Track Bar. Since Then, The Shaking Has Not Occurred. The Consumer Stated As He Approached A Line Of Vehicles Stopped At A Light, He Attempted To Apply The Brake, But It Went Soft And To The Floor. An Inspection Revealed A Hole In The Brake Line Above The Right Front Wheel, Where The Line Left The Wheel Well And Went Into The Engine Compartment. The Hole Was Caused By Rubbing On The Line By The Edge Of The Plastic Wheel Well Lining. *jb

Known To Many Who Have jeeps, The “death Wobble”. When This First Happened To My Daughter’s Car, Thankfully I Was The One Driving. It Was On The Interstate And I Thought A Tire Had Blown. The Steering Wheel Vibrated Uncontrollably And I Pulled Over. Nothing Looked Wrong But I Called A Tow Truck Regardless. They Looked At It At The Station And Could Not Find Anything Wrong. I Had No Idea This Was A Problem jeep Created When They Built The Vehicle. Driving On The Highway At Approximately 65 Miles Per Hour My Front End Began To Shake And The Steering Became So Erratic That I Had To Grip The Steering Wheel To Keep The Car From Veering Into Another Lane Of Traffic. I Was Able To Slow The Car Down And Pull Over To The Side Of The Road. Once I Began Again There Was No Vibration. This Is The Second Time This Has Happened Within Two Month. There Are Many Cases Of This Happening On The Internet. It’s Called The “death Wobble” And I Don’t Feel Safe In The Car Anymore. Having Problem With “death Wobble”. While Traveling At A High Rate Of Speed, Over 40mph. A Violent Shaking Has Occurred A Multiple Number Of Times. Feels As Though The Entire Front End Of Vehicle Is Ready To Fly Off. Control Of Vehicle Is Compromised. Especially At Such A High Rate Of Speed, Which Usually Occurs On The Freeway With Other Vehicles Around. Dealership Says That The Steering Stabilizer Needs To Be Replaced. During A Routine Maintenance Service, The Dealer Noticed A Large Amount Of “play” In The Steering Wheel Of Our 2008 jeep wrangler Sahara 2-door. It Measured Greater Than The Allowable Movement. After Reading About The Effects Of “death Wobble” It Was Decided That This Could Be The Early Signs Of This Problem. With The Numerous Documented Cases Of This Issue, We Asked The Dealer To Contact Chrysler To Cover The $600+ Repair/upgrade That Was Suggested(including An Upgraded Steering Damper, Upgraded Tie Rod, And Wheel Alignment). The Vehicle Is Completely Stock, Well Maintained, Has 35,000 Miles, And Has Never Been Off-road. The Dealer Agreed That There Was A Problem With The Factory Parts And It Shouldn’t Be Our Responsibility To Cover The Cost Of The Upgrade. They Dropped The Price Down To $100 And It Is Now Being Repaired. The Vehicle Should Be Ready Tomorrow, So We Will Find Out If These New Parts Will Prevent The “death Wobble” Issue. *tr

I Have A 2008 jeep wrangler Sahara Unlimited With 50,000 Miles And Purchased New. I Have Been Experiencing “death Wobble” Or An Uncontrollable Shaking In The Front End Of My Vehicle Intermittently But Generally At Speeds Of 40 Mph And Higher. Here Is A Video Of My Experience: Http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7pen1it91z0 I Have Read That Congress Addressed This With jeep And jeep Has Issued A Technical Bulletin Http://editorial.autos.msn.com/blogs/autosblogpost.aspx?post=bb1d0352-f579-4468-b24f-60869e95d02f But That Is All. Please Advise As To What I Can Do To Address This Issue. I Live In Nys. Does The “lemon-law” Apply Here? *tr

I Was Coming Off The Freeway Onto An Exit And The jeep Started Shaking Really Bad, Almost To The Point That I Couldn’t Control It. I Pulled To The Side Of The Road And My Boys Thought It Was A Flat Tire (or Two) So They Got Out And Looked. No Flat. We Were Almost To Our Destination So Once I Settled Down, Went The Rest Of The Way With No Problem. I Have Not Had That Happen Again Since Then But It Is Very Scary And With One Or Both Of My Kids In The Car At All Times, I Don’t Want Anything To Happen. What Is It And How Can It Be Fixed? The Dealer Has No Idea And Look At Me Like I Have Lost It. *tr

At Approximately 51 Mph And After Passing Over A Rough Spot On The Highway Surface The Vehicle Started To Extremely Vibrate And Shimmy. Maintaining Control Was Difficult And Necessitated An Immediate Reduction In Speed. On An Approximate 50 Mile Trip This Was Repeated Four Times While On An Interstate. This Was Much More Violent Than A Blow Out, Tire Separation, Or An Unbalanced Tire. This Malady Could Easily Result In A Fatality. I’ve Logged Approximately 2million Miles Driving And I Must Add This Situation Is Very Serious. *tr

I Have Had Persistent Violent Shaking Of The Front End After Hitting Minor Bumps At Highway Speeds. The Issue Is Referred To As The “death Wobble” By Others Online And By jeep Dealership. They Fixed Once Under Warranty At Less Than 20k Miles And Now That It Is Recurring At 38k-47k Miles They Will Not Cover. I Have Made No Modifications To The Vehicle – It Is Stock. The Issue Happened 3 Times In One Trip This Past Weekend Where I Need To Bring The Car To A Near Stop On The Highway (obviously A Dangerous Condition). I Called jeep Corporate (max, Level 1 Agent. [xxx] Rep # 4.2.2013 2:50pm Eastern Time For A 30 Minute + Call.) They Informed Me They Would Not Cover And Read A Statement. I Am Shocked That jeep Refuses To Fix Something The Dealer Quoted Me $350 To Resolve That Is Clearly A Common Defect In Their Product And Causes A Serious Safety Issue. I Hope That Your Organization Can Encourage Proactive Resolution Before Someone Is Seriously Injured Or Killed. Bought A 2008 jeep wrangler X From Brookfield Chrysler In Benton Harbor Michigan In February. After Two Weeks I Brought It Back Because Of Extreme And Unsafe Tire Wear Due To A Damaged Front Axle. They Replaced The Axle And Front Tires. The Very Same Day It Started The Infamous Death Wobble. I Would Be On The Highway At 70 Mph (or Anything Above 20), And Hit A Bump, And The Front End Would Start Shaking Uncontrollably. I Could Look Out The Window And See The Tires Moving Back And Forth Extremely. This Resulted In Me Losing Control And Running Off The Highway Into A Ditch. *tr

Driving On The Interstate At Approximately 65 Mph, And The Front End Began Shaking Violently. I Started Pulling Over And When I Got Down To 35 Mph, The Shaking Stopped. I Was Able To Drive For A Couple Of Weeks Without Incidence, And Then It Happened Again With Increasing Frequency. This Was A Stock jeep Bought New Without Any After-market Alterations With Only 52k Miles. I Took It Into Midas, And They Said I Needed A New Steering Stabilizer. They Replaced It, And It Did Not Solve The Problem. I Took It To Another Mechanic, And They Replaced Trackbar, But It Didn’t Solve The Problem. I Took It Back To Midas, And They Put Another New Stabilizer, Still Had The Problem With Ever-increasing Frequency. I Put New Tires On The Car, And The Problem Went Away For About 20k Miles. At 73k, The Problem Started Again. This Time I Took It The jeep Dealer. They Knew What The “death Wobble” Was, And They Said They Would Check Everything. They Reported Back That There Was Nothing Wrong With The Components, And Suggested I Get The Tires Balanced Again. I Got The Tires Balanced And Took It Back A Week Later To The Dealer As The Problem Was Happening With More Frequency, And Now Was Occurring At Speeds Between 45-55 Mph. I Suggested A Particular Patch Of Highway For A Test Drive. They Called Me Back And Said, “there Is Something Seriously Wrong.” They Then Worked With Chrysler To Identify And “solve” The Problem. They Replaced The Tire Rods And Joints. Three Days Later I Experienced The Problem Again, And Then Again, And Again. I Have Spent Approximately $1400 To “fix” This Problem, And It Continues To Persist. Do An Online Search Of “death Wobble” And You’ll Find Entry After Entry And Even Videos. I’m Really Worried That One Of These Times When I And Forced To Quickly Slow Down And Head To The Shoulder, I’m Going To End Up Rear Ended By A Tractor Trailer.

I Purchased This Vehicle Used With 7907 Miles On It. Within Four Months I Experienced The Front End Shake Violently When I Hit A Bump. I Thought It Was Just A One Time Occurrence Caused By Being In A Curve When It Happened. But This Has Happened Six Or Seven Times In The Past Year With Two Occurrences In The Same Day, Yesterday 11-1-11. I Have Found A Location On Interstate Highway I-294 Where At 55mph It Will Occur When Ever I Am In The Right Lane. I Have Not Taken The Car To A Dealer Yet Because It Only Has 27000 Miles On It And Everything Looks Tight In The Front End. The Vehicle Is Completely Stock And Has Never Been Driver Off Road. After Researching The Internet For Similar Complaints I Found Many People Experiencing The Same Trouble. It Is Described As “death Wobble”. I Believe This Issue Should Be Looked At By The Ntsb. With So Many jeep wrangler Owners Having The Same Trouble, There May Be Design Fault. *tr

While Driving On A Secondary Road At 50 Mph, I Crossed A Bump In The Road Where A Culvert Had Been Replaced. The Blacktop Was Replaced On The Road And No Visible Obstructions Were Noticed. The jeep Started Shaking Violently. I Thought I Had Blown A Tire Or A Ball Joint Had Failed. I Came To A Stop At The Side Of The Road With Traffic Behind Me, Fearing I’d Get Rear-ended Making A Stop So Suddenly. I Got Out Of The jeep To Check The Tires, Etc And Nothing Looked Out Of Place – No Flat Tires, No Sign Of Joints Failing. I Got Back In The jeep And Slowly Started Driving Again. This Happened Within A 4 Week Span At Least 4 Times At The Same Location. But When I Would Drive With Others In Their Vehicles, There Would Be No Problems. I Ended Up Taking My jeep To The Local Garage And They Replaced Ball Joints, U Joints And Also Aligned The Front End. I Had No Problem Until November 1, When Along Another Secondary Road, Another Culvert Had Been Replaced; Again The jeep Started Shaking Violently. Again On A Main Highway, A Week Later, A Bump You Could Not See But Feel While Driving, Violent Shaking Occurred. I Called My Garage Today And Told The Attendant What Has Been Happening And They Explained To Me That This Occurs In Some Chrysler And Also Ford Vehicles. There Probably Is Nothing Else Wrong, But It’s Something That Just Needs To Be Dealt With In Owning One Of These Vehicles. “dealt With”???? I Shouldn’t Have To Deal With This – Chrysler Should Deal With This – Helloooo, “recall”… *tr

I Have Spent So Much Money Trying To Get This Resolved..and I Am Still Not Safe It Is Still Happening..happened Yesterday. Now I Could Trade It In Or Sell It, But That Is Some Real Bad Karma Coming Back. I Am Looking For These Manufacture Issues To Be Resolved And To Know That When I Drive My jeep To And From Work Everyday That Everytime I Hit A Small Bump Or Cross Over A Joint In A Bridge, I Am Not At Risk Of Killing Myself Or Someone Else Due To Driving A jeep wrangler. I Would Never Recommend jeep To Anyone At This Point. In Fact People Ask Me All The Time How I Like It And I Tell Them It Is A Piece Of Crap And I Wouldn’t Buy One. Feel Free To Contact Me Regarding These Issues. I Am Sure You Have Heard Them Before As They Seem To Be Pretty Common (the Violent Shaking In The Front End Even Has It’s Own Name…the “death Wobble”). Why Don’t You Go Out And Buy A wrangler And Put Your Own Family Members In It And Drive Down The Highway At 70? Would You Own A jeep wrangler Or Buy One For Your Daughter? *tr

At Between 35-40 Mph, When A Bump Is Hit With One Wheel Before The Other A Shaking Begins In The Front Suspension. At Times This Shaking Is So Violent And Sustained That The Vehicle Has Be Brought To A Complete Stop. There Is Some Kind Of Apparent Harmonic Oscillation That Is Being Established For It To Be As Violent And Sustained As It Is. I Initially Reported This To The jeep Dealership In 2008, After The Steering Stabilizer Bracket Broke Off The Front Axle Of The jeep. I Was Told That My Problems Were Because The Lift Kit That Was Installed On The Vehicle Was Not A Mopar Approved Kit. jeeps Resolution Was For Me To Purchase A New Front Axle At My Cost And Replace The Lift Kit That Was On The Vehicle. The Lift Was Professionally Installed And Is One Of The Top Kits On The Market. Since This Time, I Have Replaced The Steering Stabilizer About Every 10k-12k Miles. Each Time The I Do, This Reduces The Problem For A Short Period Of Time. Each Time I Have Discussed The Issue With A jeep Service Center, I’ve Been Told That This Is A Lift Issue And Not jeep‘s Problem. From The Many Complaints That I Continue To Read On jeep Forums In Which People Are Experiencing This Issue, I Strongly Believe That This Is An Issue With The Design Of The Front Suspension/steering System On The Jk. I Have Read Reports From People Experiencing This With The Stock Suspension, As Well As A Variety Of Lift Systems And Tire/rim Configurations. If There Is Some Way To Fix This That jeep Is Aware Of, They Should Be Disclosing It To The Owners Of The Vehicles, If Not They Should Make Efforts To Investigate And Try To Resolve This Issue. *tr

For Your Urgent Review And Action: I Was Driving Down The Road At 45 Mph And The Front Wheels And Steering Wheel Of My jeep Started To Shake Violently! I Had No Control Over The Steering Of The jeep. I Looked Up On The Internet This Problem And Discovered Much Information Including Videos That Describe This Violent Shake As The “death Wabble”. This Violent Shake Continues To Happen When I Get Up To Speeds Between 45mp And 60mph. So Far I Have Replaced The Steering Stabalizer Shock And Now My jeep Is Back In The Shop At A Local Tire And Front-end Service Center Getting New Tires, Wheel Balancing And A Front-end Alignment. Because Of The Severity Of This Issue, The Service Center Said They Will Not “test Drive” The jeep After This Work Is Complete Because They Are Not Willing To Put Their Employees Lives At Risk. This Is A Major Problem For Me If I Can’t Even Have A Service Provider Test Drive My Vehicle After They Do Their Work Because They Fear Something Terrible Could Happen To Their Lives. It Makes Me Very Scared To Drive This jeep. I Am Requesting That Chrysler-jeep Immediately Review The Fixes Of My jeep (including A Test Drive) When I Get The jeep Back And That They Cover My Expenses Thus Far To Fix The “death Wabble” Plus Any Additional Work That They May Need To Do To Make My jeep Safe To Drive By Eliminating This Violent Shaking Problem. I Find It Hard To Believe That This Vehicle, With This Violent Shaking Issue That Creates Loss Of Control Of The Vehicle, Meets Automative Safety Regulations. This Is A “known” Difficiency With Various jeep Products Including My 2007 jeep wrangler X. In Addition, I Am Requesting Any “recall” Information That May Be Available To Fix This Problem That I May Have Missed. I Am Available To Provide Additional Information Upon Request To Assist With My Request For Resolution. *tt

I Own A 2007 jeep wrangler That Has A Violently Shimmy Or A So Called “death Wobble”. It Has Nearly Caused Me To Go Off The Road On Several Occasions. After Some Research, I’ve Come To Find Out This A Common Problem Among jeep Owners Which The Chrysler Co. Refuses To Acknowledge. It’s Been To The Dealership Twice And The Problem Still Isn’t Fixed. To My Dismay, The Have No Problem Charging Me For Their Ineffective Attempts. My Model jeep, As Well As Others, Needs To Be Recalled And My Money Refunded. *tr

While Driving Down The Road At About 40-45mph My Right Front Tire Hit A Bump. When That Happened The Entire Front End Began To Vibrate Violently. The Only Thing That Cured The Issue Was To Brake The Vehicle. Once It Got Down To About 15mph It Finally Stopped And I Was Able To Continue. This Has Been An Ongoing Issue With This jeep. This Has Happened Before And The Dealership Replaced Tie Rods And A Steering Dampener But It’s Never Gone Away Completely. *tr

As I Was Driving Through The Entrance To The Baltimore Harbor Tunnel, I Hit A Bump And The Steering Wheel Began To Shake Violently On My jeep wrangler. In Addition, The Front End Of The Vehicle Vibrated And Shook Violently. I Had No Place To Stop, A Bus Was Behind Me, And I Had Trouble Keeping My jeep In One Lane. Since There Was No Place To Pull Over, I Slowed Down And When I Reached A Speed Between 15 To 20 Miles Per Hour, The Shaking Stopped And I Was Able To Continue On. During My Trip That Day, I Had Three More Episodes Of Violent Shaking As I Hit Bumps In The Road When I Was Traveling Between 50 And 60 Miles Per Hour. I Had Recently Read An Article About This Problem And This Issue Appears To Be A Common Problem For jeep wranglers, Although I Had Never Experienced The Problem Before. My jeep Is A 2007 4-door wrangler Which Only Has 10,400 Miles On It Because I Usually Keep It Garaged At A Beach Home In Delaware And I Use It Only During Summer Weekends. The jeep Is A Stock Model With No After Market Modifications. I Had Driven It Home To Maryland To Have A Dealer Checkup Before I Returned The jeep To The Beach. The Problem Happened On My Third Trip After The Dealer Service But It Was My First Trip Driving On A Highway. My Daughter Was In The Car With Me And She And I Were Extremely Disturbed And Consider This Issue A Major Safety Issue. Since My Research Indicates This Is A Widespread Problem, I Feel Strongly The Ntsb Should Take The Appropriate Action To Have Chrysler Address This Issue Before There Is A Fatality. I Am Extremely Thankful That The Bus Behind Me In The Baltimore Harbor Tunnel Had Good Brakes. *tr

Death Wobble – I Can Drive The jeep Down The Highway And Once It Hits Above 45 Miles An Hour It Will Start To Shake Extensively. I Have To Start Putting On The Break Immediately To Stop The jeep From Shaking And Regain Control Of The Vehicle. With The Speed Limits On The Highways 60 – 75 Miles An Hour The Vehicle Problem Makes It Impossible For Me To Take Many Highways. This jeep Is My Only Means Of Transportation To And From Work And Transporting My Children. I Have Avoided Over 5 Near Miss Accidents Because Of This Problem With My Children In The Vehicle. It Has Almost Cost Me My Job Because Of Having To Avoid Traveling In The jeep. *tr

Was Driving Down The Road About 45 Mph, Hit A Bump And The Vehicle Began To Shake So Violently That I Was Convinced A Wheel Was About To Fall Off. I Immediately Stopped On The Side Of The Road To Inspect The Vehicle But Could Find Nothing Wrong. In Researching The Problem Online I Found Out That Is A Common Occurrence Known As A “death Wobble.” I Was Lucky In That I Was Driving On A Rarely Traveled Back Road When The Incident Occurred, Had This Happened On A Major Highway I Could See This As A Very Dangerous Situation.

I Have Been Experiencing The “death Wobble” On My 2007 jeep wrangler Sahara For The Past Year Now. When It First Started I Replaced The Tires And It Appeared To Correct The Problem For 8-9 Months. Then The Problem Re-appeared So I Had The Tires Rotated. Corrected The Problem For Approximately 5000 Miles. Just This Morning While Driving Into Work My jeep Started To Shake Violently Starting At 50 Mph. In The Past, My jeep Will Experience The Death Wobble Between 50-60 Mph. I Need To Slow Down To Around 20 Mph For The Wobble To Stop. This Is Not Safe! Especially Driving In Rush Hour And I Need To Constantly Slow Down To Speeds Below The Minimum Speed Limit Requirement In My State. All Parts On My jeep Are Stock / Straight From The Assembly Line (except For The New Tires, Air Filter, Oil, And Wiper Blades). I Can Be The Only Driver To This Vehicle As Other Drivers In My Family Refuse To Drive Because Of The Death Wobble. I Haven’t Brought It Into A jeep Dealer Yet (although After Reading Threads On The Internet It Appears jeep Denies It To Be An Issue). This Is Not Safe And This Is My Primary Vehicle. It Is Happening To Many jeep Owners And If jeep Wants To Keep Its Business They Should Start Addressing The Issue… *tr

Each Time The jeep Hit A Bump In The Road. jeep Is Stock, No Lifts, No Off Road Use, Original Factory Tires: Goodyear wrangler P255/75r17, Properly Inlfated To Factory Specs, Low Mileage 27394. My jeep Has The Death Wobble, Has Now For Years. As Advised Ihave Replaced Tires And Had An Allignment, Fixed It For A While, Now Its Back, Replaced Tires And Allignment Also Balanced And Now Replacing The Steering Damper. There Are Complaints About This All Over The Internet. Every Mechanic I Called Had Heard Of It Or Experienced It. There Have Been News Pieces Done About It And Now Chrysler Has Issued A Technical Bulletin Blaming It On Everyone Else But Their Poor Design. They Should E Held Accountable. I Have Not Lifted My jeep And Nothing Besides Tires And Now This Steering Damper Has Been Replaced – So All Stock. They Need To Be Forced To Get To The Root Of This And Reimburse People For The Repairs And Labor Time It Takes To Try To Figure Out How To Fix This. It May Not In And Of Itself Be A Safety Issue But The Only Way To Stop It Once It Starts Is To Stop Completely And That Is Extremely Dangerous At 65 Miles An Hour On The Highway. Besides The Fact That It Has To Cause Damage To The Other Parts Of The Car Because Of The Violent Shaking And That Could Be Dangerous In And Of Itself Depending On What Is Damaged. It Is Ridiculous That Chrysler Has Not Been Held Accountable For This Yet By Someone With The Authority To Force Them To Fix It. *tr

This Has To Do With The Death Wobble That Is Highly Been Broadcasted Via Internet. I Have A Mint, Completely Stock jeep wrangler X Unlimited. First Year Of The 4 Door. It Has Not Been Modified At All. As Said It Is Mint Condition. I Made The Mistake Of Not Driving It Much, Especially On Highway First Several Years I Had It. I Drove A Older Car As My Everyday Vehicle. The jeep Was And Is My Toy. I Had To Start Driving It More In 2011, That’s When The Problem Was Clear. Whenever I Am Driving At Over 50-55 Mph, And I Hit A Bump Or Groove In Road It Randomly Goes Into This Violent Shake. The Same Shake Described And Seen On The Internet. I Finally Did Take It To A jeep Dealer, Not Expecting Much. Due To The Fact That My Warranty Was Expired. But Due To The Fact Of The Very Low Mileage And Showroom Appearance Of Car, I Was Able To Convince Them To Address Problem At No Charge To Me, So For. I Say So For, Due To The Fact That The Dealer Has Replaced Numerous Parts Underneath, But Problem Still There. Now I Am Waiting For Decision From Higher Ups At jeep To Decide What To Do With Me. I Feel That There Is Some Engineering Problems Overlooked When Designed And Built. They(jeep) Know They Have A Major Problem.i Am Very Surprised That There Has Not Been A Death Involved With This. It Is Serious. My Wife Refuses To Drive In My jeep. She Calls It Christines Little Sister Carla. I Am Stuck. I Cannot Trade Vehicle In, For I Would Be Worried That The Next Owner/driver Would Not Be As Lucky As I Have Been, And Not Been In A Accident. *tr

I Was Driving On The Freeway In Excess Of 70mph When I Hit A Very Minor Imperfection In The Road. The Vehicle Immediately Began To Shake/hop And Steering Become Uncontrollable I Nearly Caused A Major Pile Up On I-35. This Has Happened Numerous Times And I’ve Owned The Car Very Little Time. Luckily I Gained Control Before A Catastrophic Event Happened. This Is 100% A jeep Design Flaw It Is Referred To As “death Wobble” And No If Ands Or Buts; They Need To Be Held Accountable. All We As Buyers Ask Is To Be Put In A Safe And Functional Vehicle. My Child Has To Ride In This Car. There Are Literally Thousands Of Reports Of The Same Problem All Over The Nation. It Is Not Ok For This To Go On Any Longer. Something Has To Be Done Lives Are At Stake. Is That Not Important Anymore? Driving My Stock 2007 jeep wrangler On I-77 In Charleston Wv At 65mph. Started Rounding A Left Hand Curve In The Road When I Hit Some Minor Bumps In The Road. The Vehicle Started Bouncing And Shaking Violently Nearly Causing Me To Lose Control Of The Vehicle. I Was Able To Slow And Pull Off To The Side Of The Road. The Shake Went Away At About 15-20 Mph. I Thought For Sure A Wheel Was Coming Off. I Slowed My Speed But This Still Happened Three More Times Before I Could Get It To Royal jeep In Charleston Where I Had To Leave It And Rent A Car For The Night. After Describing The Incident To The Service Advisor Stated It Sound Like A Bad Steering Damper Shock And Stated That He Has Dealt With This Problem Before. I Picked Up The Vehicle The Next Day To A Tune Of $205.00 Plus The Rental Car($64.00) And Drove Back To Cleveland Oh Without Another Incident. Bought 2007 jeep wrangler Unlimited X In April 2010. 2 Months Later While Filling It Up At The Gas Station The Gas Came Pouring Back Out. I Thought Pump Was Broken Actually Informed Clerk. Happened Again 3 Fill-ups Later. Around That Time Started Having A Shimmy In Front End. Brought It Back To Dealer On Several Occasions. Was Told They Never Heard Of Gas Coming Back Out I Must Be Doing Something Wrong And The Shimmy Was “normal” For jeeps. Been Having Major Issues With This Truck It Has Been In The Shop More Than Any Vehicle I Have Ever Owned. I’ve Only Bought Used. I’ve Had To Have The 02 Sensors Changed 4 Times. I Have My Tires Balanced Several Times. My Tires Rotated. Alignments, Etc. I Have Also Replaced The Steering Damper. Fast Forward To 2013. Shimmy Is So Bad I Almost Took Out Another Driver. Thankfully I’m A Commercially Trained Driver Otherwise It Could Have Ended Badly. Still Have Gas Pouring Out Every Fill Up. 02 Sensors Still Keep Crapping Out. Head Gaskets Had To Be Replaced Already. I Finally Had Enough And Told Dealer They Need To Fix No More Games And I Find Out About The Tsb For The Steering Damper. Then I Also Have To Be Told That My Main Rear Oil Seal Is Now Leaking And My Tranny Coolant Lines Are Leaking??? Oh And Was Told That All This Was Normal For jeeps As Well???? Really!!!!! The Truck Only Has 66k Miles On It. It’s All Original No Lift Kits, No Off Roading, Nothing…. This Is Bull… For The Amount Of Money I Paid For This Vehicle Somebody Should Be Doing Something. I Find His Site And Lo And Behold… I’m Not The Only One… Unbelievable!!!! *tr

This Was One Of The Worst Times Since I Bought My jeep Used In Oct Of 2011 That It Did This Horrible Shaking Between 55-60 Mph. It Has Done It Several Times Since Then And Recently Was Worse Than Ever!! It Started At 40 Mph And Continued Even Over 60 Mph It Was So Bad I Needed To Pull Over, As I Couldn’t Control It. I Have Since Read Online That This Is An Issue Many jeep Owners Face-especially 2007. I Am Going To Contact jeep As I Want It Fixed, I Could Have Crashed If I Weren’t In The Far Right Lane On The Highway At The Time Of Incident!!! It Needs To Be Addressed And Recalled To Be Repaired. Stock 2007 With Fairly New Original Size Tires wrangler With “death Wobble” At 55 Miles An Hours The jeep Begin To Shake Violently And I Had To Slow Below 45 For The Wobble To Stop. After I Had The Recommended Upgrade To The Steering Dampener I Was Traveling Through A Canyon On I-70 And Went Over An Expansion Joint. I Almost Lots Control And Hit The Car Next To Me Related To This Wobble. This jeep Has Been Taken This Vehicle To The Dealer 5 Times In The Last Three Months, They Have Replaced Every Possible Part On The Front End Of This Car. The Tires Are From 2009 With Almost 2/3 Tread Remaining. The Dealership Is At A Lost For Why This Problem Continues. I Have Decided To Sell The jeep Back To The Dealer Because I Am No Longer Able To Feel Safe And Will Not Take My Family In This Care. The Wobble Is Very Unpredictable And Therefore Very Hard To Duplicate But None The Less It Is Very Possible To Lose Control When This Occurs. Please Look Into Why This Is So Common Before Someone Is Killed. *tr

I Bought A New 2007 jeep wrangler Death Wobble Started At 70,000 Miles Mark Mitsubishi In Phoenix Az Has Not Helped Me Out At All It Goes Every 10,000 Miles On Me And They Just Replaced My Tires. Death Wobble Occurred The Day After And Before. How Do We All Get Together Who Have This Problem And Get jeep To Be Responsible For A Defective Front End. Death Wobble Is Not Only Scary It Is Dangerous And I Hope That It Doesn’t Take Someone Getting Killed For Them To Finally Replace It. *tr

I Engaged My Electronic Swaybar Disconnect When I Went Off-roading. When I Returned To Pavement, I Tried To Reconnect By Pressing The Button On The Instrument Panel, But The Light Continued Flashing On The Dash. I Took My 2007 jeep wrangler Rubicon In To The Local jeep Dealer And Was Told That It Was Not Covered By Warranty. After Doing Some Research Online, I Found That This Is A Very Common Issue Among Rubicon Owners. Here Is The Link To Some Others On A jeep Forum Experiencing The Same Issue: Http://www.jk-forum.com/jk-electrical-lighting-sound-systems-13/warning-rubicon-owners-your-swaybar-will-get-you-177489/page2/ This Is A Real Issue, As Most jeep Owners That Have This Electronic Swaybar Disconnect Option Use It Off-road, Far From Civilization. In Some Cases, This Defect Has Caused Their Vehicle To Freeze Up. This Could Be Deadly In Some Of The Really Hot Or Really Cold Locations. *tr

Driving On 4 Lane Non-interstate Road In The Rain At Approximately 40 Mph. Drove Through A Puddle That Seemed To Affect The Left Front Tire Only And The Front End Began To Shake Violently As Though Something Had Came Loose. There Was A Strong Pull To The Left Also. I’m Thinking I Will Have To Get The Front End Checked Out, Stopped At A Grocery Store For A Few Things And When Headed Home The Shake Is Still There, But Not So Violent. Parked At Home Overnight And Headed Out The Next Day To Get It Looked At And There Is No Shake Whatsoever, Vehicle Drives Like It Always Has. In Doing Some Research On The Internet I See A Problem Others Seem To Be Having Exactly Like Mine And It’s Being Called The “death Wobble”. It Has Not Done This Since This One Time But It Has Me Worried That It Will At Any Time, And Could Be Very Dangerous. *tr

When Traveling At 45 Mph I Made A Slight Left Turn In The Road And Went Over A Long Small Bump In The Road Maybe From A Road Seam That Was Filled In. Both Wheels Hit It At The Same Time And The jeep Slowly Started Shaking Until It Became Very Violent Inside The jeep. I Had To Slow My Speed Down To Approx 10 Mph To Get It To Stop. I Happened To Have A Coworker Behind Me Who Saw The Whole Thing From Behind And Said The Car Was Shaking Back And Forth So Much That It Looked Like My Rims Were Almost Touching The Road Since My Tire Treads Stayed Straight. It Felt Like I Had 4 Flats. I Changed The Steering Dampener And The Shocks To Rancho Brand Which Are Larger Than The Oem But It Happened Again But Not Nearly As Bad Since I Now Know When It Could Possibly Happen. If There Were Cars Next To Me I Would Have Hit Them. This Is A Very Real Problem Which Is Scary. Any Help Would Be Appreciated. Thank You. *tr

The 2007 jeep wrangler Unlimited X Model Began Violent Shaking In The Front End At Highway Speeds. The Shaking Started Mildly Then Became Violent. I Slowed Down And The Shaking Subsided But This Is Extremely Dangerous When The Traffic Flow Is Moving At Faster Rates. An On-line Search Indicates That This Is Common In This Model. I Believe This Should Be Recalled And Fixed. *tr

I Have Loved This jeep Since The Day I Got It, At About A Few Years After Owning It I Had Experienced Something I Just Couldn’t Believe!!! I Was Going Down The Road At 45 Miles An Hour When I Must Have Hit A Bump In The Road, My jeep Continued To Shake Violently And I Could Not Stop It Unless I Pulled Off The Road And Tried To Come To A Complete Stop. I Then Went Directly To My Mechanic Who Then Inspected The Vehicle, He Found Nothing Wrong And Said He Did Not Experience It Himself. I Have Replaced All The Shocks, new Tires, Brakes, Steering Pin And Still Have That Problem, I Did Not Know What It Was Until I Started Looking It Up On The Internet, There Is Even A Video Of Someone Driving A jeep Exactly Like Mine And It Is Doing The Same Thing. I Have Seen Hundreds Of Complaints On This, If Something Is Not Done Someone Is Going To Get Killed When They Are In Ice Or Rain!!!! Why Hasn’t Anyone Stepped Up To Have This Fixed? I Have Called jeep On It And They Said They Have Had Complaints But No One Is Doing Anything About It! Really?? How About You Climb Into My Vehicle And Have This “death Wobble” Happen To You With Your Child In It??? I Am 2 Payments Away From Paying Off My jeep, This Just Disgusts Me! Something Needs To Be Done!!!!!!! *tr

While Driving On Interstate And Immediately After Crossing Over A Bridge, The Front End And Steering Wheel Began To Violently Shake. Braking Did Not Bring The Condition Under Control. Fortunately I Was In The Right Lane And Able To Pull Onto The Right Shoulder. The Shaking Stopped When My Speed Fell Below 25mph. I Purchased This Vehicle At Approx 50,000 Miles. This Condition Has Never Occurred Before. Clearly There Is Potential For Outright Loss Of Steering Control, Or Potential For Collision From Behind Due To Need For Rapid Deceleration While Driving At A Highway Speeds. *tr

I Was Driving Approximately 55-60mph, There Were Some Mild Tar Bumps In The Road That I Drove Over And The Car Proceeded To The Death Wobble. It Is Exactly As Everyone Else Has Noted, The jeep Felt Like All 4 Wheels Were Coming Off, The jeep Shook Voilently, Was Extremely Hard To Handle. I Slowed My Speed And Pulled Off The Road. The Car Felt Like It Was Going To Come Apart. This Is A Known Problem To Chrysler And To This Organization, Why Won’t You Do Something About It????? With Only 33k Miles, I Now Have To Get A New Car Because I Am In Fear Of Driving This One. If This Had Happened In The Middle Lane Of An Expressway….it Could Have Been Tragic And Deadly….is That What You Are Waiting For? Hope It Isn’t Anyone You Know When It Does Happen!
